The Internet is a miracle. I don’t know how I would get by without it. The Internet is one of the chief reasons why I am a writer today.
For one thing it pretty much instantly gives me access to unbelievable amounts of research material–I don’t know how I did or found anything when I had to spend hours and days looking through books at the library…. Not that the library isn’t a valuable resource! It is! In fact, often my online research points the way to the books I need to read at the library.
And I have access to the Internet almost everywhere I am. I can “plug in” at my local McDonalds or my favorite coffee shop! Even the tiny little town where my husband was raised (and where he insists we sometimes go!).
And there are times that being able to work away from home is just as much as a blessing as being able to work at home!
But the Internet has also put me into contact with people from all over the world. People I would never have found or met without it. With people I consider some of my dearest and best friends. People I truely love. People I might never get to meet face to face.
The Internet is one more of those things I tend to take for granted. I forget what it was like before the Internet.
I need to remember to be thankful for what the Internet brings me.
And what it brings the world.
I think the Internet will save the world–the information it makes available to humanity is invaluable.
There are people in this world who would have had no idea the rights that they have as human beings because of the Internet!
Today I am thankful for the Internet!
