Day 331 of 365 Days of Silver ~~ Grateful for a Special Day

What makes today special? Well for one, I am at home in a warm house on a cold and miserable looking day. It’s all gray outside and rainy and it’s supposed to turn to some snow, but I am inside with my husband and my sweet dogs. I pray today for the homeless people—I bet they are even here in the little town of Brookfield, MO.

The news say the weather forecast all over the country is very messy. There are twenty inches of snow in parts of CA, a foot in Oregon, in Spokane, WA are without power do to hurricane force winds, there is going to be freezing rain in Texas. There are millions of people who will be traveling to get home after the holiday weekend—in nasty conditions. I don’t think we’re going to get an inch of snow. That is a heck of a lot to be grateful for.

The second thing that happened that has made this an awesome day is that last night we went out to the Black Friday Walmart Sale that for some reason started at 6:00 on Thursday evening. What happened is that I managed to get a HP laptop computer with a 15” diagonal screen, Windows, 500GB hard drive, 4GB system memory and more (I think it even has a touch screen!) for only $250.00! The one I am typing on at this moment has been threatening to give up the ghost any day. Now I don’t have to worry about it!

But there is more! I also got a tablet with a detachable keyboard! It has a ten inch screen, a 4 core processor and 32GB of storage—and it was less than eighty dollars.

This is incredible for me. It seems these days that airplanes have drop down tables about the size of a magazine—if you’re lucky. The rows are closer and if anyone drops their seat back, you’re in trouble. My laptop is huge and very heavy and I haven’t been able to use it on a plane for years. And recent travels have had me on planes and layovers for hours—with tons of lost writing time. And I write well while I’m traveling. With this new tablet it will be wonderful! I am very excited.

And finally—and this makes me very happy—today is also special because Dreamspinner Press has released, today, a special bundle of four of my bestselling books at a mind-blowing price. So far, out of their hundreds of writers, they’ve only chosen sixteen other authors for this special deal—and I am in the company of such famous MM writers as Amy Lane, Andrew Grey, Ariel Tachna, Connie Bailey, John Inman, Sue Brown, Michael Murphy and Wade Kelly!

What this means is that four of my books, which would normally sell for $6.99 a piece, have been bundled together for a low price of $9.99. Now normally if someone bought these four books, it would come to a total of $27.96—almost thirty dollars. So if someone buy one of my four books, that means for only $3.00, they are getting three more books! That’s a dollar a piece.

So why am I happy about this? Well it’s because those four books have sold really, really well. Most people who already want those books, have them. They aren’t going to buy more copies. All Alone in a Sea of Romance has been out about four years.

So this bundle is a virtual gift for all those people who may have been tempted to read my books and haven’t gotten around to it, or for those who haven’t even been tempted. They have their favorites and spend their hard earned cash on the authors the love.

This bundle is a way of letting them not only have a taste of someone new, but a downright feast!

My husband has a favorite restaurant and every single time we go there he gets the very same thing. He knows he likes it and doesn’t want to try something he might not like. But if there was some kind of deal like this where he could try several foods for almost the price as one? I know he would try something different.

So the idea here is to tempt people to try someone they’ve never tried before—because Dreamspinner Press so much believes in me, they’re sure if readers take a chance, they’ll discover they’re missing out and will add my name to their favorites!

This means the world to me. I believe I have a message not only in my daily 365 Days of Silver, but also in my stories. I want to more than entertain and make people smile, but let them know that everyone’s dreams can come true. That if they take a chance, and they leap, the net will appear.

Here are the short blurbs for my novel bundle:

All Alone in a Sea of Romance: Jude Parks, writer of gay romances, came to the Romantic Voyages convention for business, yet becomes the prime suspect in a murder investigation. He also meets Tommy Smith, who makes him wonder if it may be worth holding out for Mr. Forever. However, first Jude has to survive the weekend and clear his name…. —The Boy Who Came in from the Cold: Gabe sees Todd outside his building, freezing to death, and takes pity on him. Maybe letting a man in from the cold can melt the ice around Gabe’s heart—and maybe getting evicted will turn Todd’s luck around. —Anything Could Happen: Austin moves to Kansas City, hoping to locate the love of his life and make things right between them. Once there, though, he meets actor Guy Campbell, who complicates the situation while hiding some dark secrets of his own. —Spring Affair: As they become friends, Sloan finds himself falling in love with Max, who is completely unavailable. As for Max, he is discovering that both his son’s coming out and his new friendship with Sloan are stirring up feelings he thought buried long ago. Spring is a time for rebirth—is there any way the two men can find happiness and a new beginning?

And finally? I am not falling into an old habit. I am not dreading Sunday (when I have to go back to work). I am relishing my days off. My time with my husband. My time with my dogs Sarah Jane and Oliver. Time to cuddle. Time to watch fun shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The Big Bang Theory. And tonight, we’ll be watching a big animated movie I wanted to see—Epic—and that we got on the big sale for three or four bucks. I can’t wait.

This is a big deal for me. I am truly finally learning to live for today, in this moment, right now…and to stop worrying about tomorrow or the day after or the day after that. Those days do not exist yet, and today I can enjoy this moment with all my heart.

That’s a lot to be grateful for.
