Day 258 of 365 Days of Silver ~~ So Grateful for Quality Time With My Husband

Ooh, baby, do you know what that’s worth?
Ooh, heaven is a place on earth.
They say in heaven, love comes first.
We’ll make heaven a place on earth.
Ooh, heaven is a place on earth.
~~ Ellen Shipley & Rick Nowels

Today was a really nice day. We went to Aquatica (Seaworld’s waterpark) and it was fun.

We walked a lot. We went down all kinds of waterslides. Had a lunch that we really spent too much money on, but that’s okay. That’s a part of vacations in places like Orlando—it’s expected.

We saw lots of sexy men. And one of the things I love about being gay is that most gay men I know can cheerfully point out hotties together and not get mad or jealous. Not that gay men don’t get mad or jealous. We do. But most gay men of any maturity at all know that as men, we’re going to look. It’s in our genes (or jeans) or something.

Then depending on the rules of the couple, they can look, or they can do more than look. Trust is what’s important. Knowing that they will both follow the rules they agree upon, whether that is totally monogamy, a state that Dan Savage calls “monogamish,” a Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell arrangement, or a totally open relationship.

I am not going to judge. I know what works for me. And I know what doesn’t.

Most important is trust.

And I trust R. R trusts me.

Which is only a part of what made today so wonderful. I felt so married today. Not only just being together, but when something happened like the rafts that were two-man rafts, or holding hands while we walked and not noticing if people cared or not, talking about what we wanted to do and didn’t want to do, and more.

It was simply wonderful.

Now I sit and type this and drink a glass of wine while R plays with his tablet at the other end of the table on this lovely balcony with a lovely sky and an approaching sunset—and he’s not downstairs in a man-cave. He’s with me!

Glorious.

And there is still four more days!

Four.

More.

Days!

Heaven.

Heaven is a place on Earth.

Namasté,
B.G. Thomas
