Day Ten of 365 Days of Silver ~~ I Am Grateful for Clean Drinking Water

“Most human beings have an almost infinite capacity for taking things for granted.”
~~ Aldous Huxley

So I’ve “adopted” a child through Children International. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for years. For this ridiculously small amount of money this beautiful little Indian boy named Surya Das gets medical aid and a tooth cleaning and a whole lot more. It amazes me that I will be able to help someone so easily. It makes my heart expand every time I look at his picture. There is another magick there too, but I will save that for another day.

The reason I am really mentioning this is I was looking at the little bio/chart and got a little shock.

Surya lives in a house with two multi-use rooms and or corrugated tile roof. His sanitary facility is a community latrine. And his water? Community faucets.

He doesn’t have running water in his house.

And I leave the water running when I brush teeth….

I can cry when I read his bio….

The things I take for granted. Imagine not having running water.

It’s time to think about all the little things and remember that most people don’t have them….

Thank you Universe for something as simple, as basic, and very important, as clean drinking water.

Namasté,
B.G. Thomas

  1. My Vietnamese half brother found me back in 2006. I invited him and his family over for Thanksgiving so we could all meet. I told him I was worried about my messy house. He said he grew up with a dirt floor, he doesn’t care about the house. Sobering thought.
